Hi everyone. Everything here in Zacapa is good. The work of completing the two houses and finishing the church improvements is going well and seems to be on schedule. We did have to work a little longer today to finish pouring the cement floors in both houses and didn't return to our hotel until about 6:45 this evening. We are all a bit sore as the work we did today required a lot of lifting of heavy cement bags, buckets of sand, water, and wet cement mix.
Here is an update on the church building improvements from Jack.
Lori, I had to replace the entire roof along with the rafters. However, today the church has a new roof along with a new entrance door. Nils, my Guatemalan friend, and I will rewire the church tomorrow. The dogs and even the two cats at the new house are being well fed. If time permits tomorrow, we may have the opportunity to visit Gulan and show the rest the work we did last year. Nancy I took a picture of Nils, Karla and myself to show you. It looks like we may have the houses completed by Friday's dedication. Continue to pray for us to finish and return safely to Cedarburg.

VBS once again saw more than 60 children show up to learn more about God's creation process from the book of Genesis. The kids got to make animal masks and had a lot of fun playing with them.More tomorrow -our final day of work! God's peace.

ReplyDeleteWow! What a huge improvement for the church! Thanks for posting the interior shot. The rewiring will be a wonderful thing for them as well. It great that Nils can work with you on it, Jack. I can't wait to see it on my next trip down there!
The animal masks look great! The cement work, wellllll, it's cement work, what can be said. Those bags and buckets are heavy! Thanks for all you are doing down there to make life better for some of God's people and to show what a difference having Jesus in your life can make! I'm praying for you all!
The inside of the church looks awesome. I cannot wait to see more pictures when you get home. Just think what a difference you are making in the lives of those who will have such a nice place to worship. Also the house Blessing at the end of the week is so moving. You, with all your hard work and sore backs have given to people in need a clean place to live and improved their quality of living.
